Phonics
In Early Years and Key Stage 1, we teach early reading using the Read Write Inc. Phonics programme.
This structured, systematic approach helps children learn to:
- recognise sounds quickly
- blend sounds to read words fluently
- develop accurate spelling
- build confidence and enjoyment in reading
Children read books that are carefully matched to the sounds they know so they experience early success and can read accurately and confidently. Regular assessment ensures pupils move forward at the right pace and receive additional support where needed.
