OUR CHRISTMAS FAYRE IS FAST APPROACHING
Your Friends Association Committee is busy preparing for the Christmas Fayre and we hope that all families in the school will give their support. There are lots of ways you can help us – shortly you will receive five books of Grand Draw raffle tickets with lots of fabulous prizes to win. We hope you will be able to sell all five books among your family and friends. Every child in the school has produced a personal Christmas card and details on how to order these have been sent home via your childs book bag – each pack sold will raise funds for our school.
Mr Beck has kindly agreed to two “own clothes days” for the children – Friday 23rd November will be our day for donations of bottles and Friday 30th November we will be asking for donations of cakes and chocolates. On those two mornings (from 8.30am) we need parents to help receive, sort and move all these items to storage – can you spare some time? ……. (on one or both mornings).
Would you or your company like to sponsor a stall? Or would you like to reserve a table to sell you own Christmas goodies? (vendors may like to avoid selling items/goods that the Friends Association stalls will already be providing at the Fayre – ask for details when reserving your table). A table will cost £25 , sponsorship or programme advert will be £20 so contact us promptly to guarantee a place.
On the evening of Friday 30th November (from 4.00pm) we need help to prepare classrooms for the Fayre and on Saturday (1st December) we will need parents to help prepare the main hall. On Fayre day we need lots of help to run the various Friends Association stalls – where could you help – early morning final setting up (from 8am) tombolas, tea-room, children’s activities, Irish Coffees, stocking fillers, children’s bar. Can you spare a couple of hours on the day??? Perhaps you could get together with some friends and jointly run a stall – talk to other parents in your year group and make some new friends. Finally one of the biggest tasks is clearing up after the Fayre – the whole school must be ready for Monday morning – lots of help needed for this. All funds raised go back into the school for the benefit of ALL the children.

As the official parent body of St James the Great School we are pleased to play an important part in the life of the school. In addition to organising social activities for parents and children, we continually work hard in fund-raising for the school.

Over recent years the Association has been able to provide the school with transport facilities through the provision of a 53 seater Coach and two 17 seater Mini Buses, which enables the school to run a significant number of additional educational visits for whole year groups. The efforts of the Friends Association have also seen the installation of adventure play equipment for both the junior, infant and nursery sections of the school; external seating; a range of computer equipment; along with occasional funding for school events and small items of equipment.
Our main fundraising event is the bi-annual summer fete.
As a registered charity (1017914) the Association welcomes any support friends of the school may provide.
