School Health Service

Medical

Our school nurse is generally in school one day each week. She is always willing to discuss health related matters with parents. An appointment can be made through the school office.

The school doctor attends for some medical checks. Parents may request a medical outside the routine checks by contacting the school nurse through the school office.

Dental

Dental inspections are held each year for targeted year groups and are followed up by letter if the dentist advises treatment of any kind. Parents are urged to register with a local dental practitioner and ensure regular check ups for their children.

Hearing and Vision

Routine tests are made soon after children enter the main school. These can be repeated if a parent or teacher feels there is cause for concern at any time.

Hygiene

Please check your child's hair regularly for nits and lice; if any are found do contact the school. Treatment lotions can be obtained from Pharmacies, Health Clinics or through your GP.

Please encourage your children to be careful in all aspects of personal hygiene. It is especially important as the children become more independent that there is some monitoring and reminding at home to reinforce the work in this area undertaken at school.
