Healthy Schools Award

back to news

On 26 March 2007, 26 schools celebrated their success in gaining National Healthy School Status at Croydon Town Hall. Buffet food was enjoyed by all. Town Hall tours were given by Peter, the Mayor's Mace Bearer and were found informative and fascinating. Schools were awarded their certificates and plaques by the Worshipful the Mayor of Croydon Councillor Janet Marshall.

Peter Wylie Director of Children, Young People and Learners and Tim Crayford Director of Public Health were present.

Cabinet member for Education, Youth and Lifelong Learning, Councillor Maria Gatland, commented: “I am absolutely delighted that so many schools have achieved the National Healthy School Status. Many schools will already have good working practices in areas such as healthy eating and exercise. By taking part in the programme, they build on these and develop long-lasting new policies that benefit not only pupils, but staff, parents and the wider community.”
