OTHER ITEMS 1. PRESS RELEASES - The school had a number of reports appear in a range of press publications over the past year, including the arrival of the schools new mini bus, the use of the schools facilities by Croydon Lions, information on the "The Light Touch Inspection", the notable sporting achievements over the year, school security, involvement of pupils in sporting events, Irish Dancing Competitions and the development of ICT at the school. 2. DONATIONS - The school has received donations over the year that include; computers now located in the ICT room, books donated by the Year Six leavers and a range of items obtained through the various product promotions for schools, 3. PUPIL BEHAVIOUR - Pupil behaviour was commended in the schools OFSTED inspection report. Neither the school nor the Governors are complacent in regard to behaviour issues, which can in turn become issues of bullying if not promptly dealt with. There is a clear behaviour policy and pupils are very clear about the courses of action available to them if difficulties arise. Each incident will always be dealt with sensitively according to the individual circumstances. If an issue is referred to the Headteacher and the schools disciplinary strategies have been exhausted, parents will be called in to discuss the matter. Parents are urged to advise the school of any concerns they may have at any time in order that issues that may arise can be dealt with promptly and efficiently. 4) EDUCATIONAL VISITS These continue to make a valuable input into the curriculum in addition to providing recreational opportunities. The year saw the maintenance of the now traditional trip to the UKSA for water based activities, albeit for a smaller group of pupils in the light of the additional opportunity to visit Paris and Euro Disney as a special Year 2000 trip. Both trips were highly successful and further trips to Europe may be considered in the future. Thanks are due to the staff who make these trips possible. |
