St James the Great has grown over the years from a single form entry school of 210 pupils to a two form entry school of 420 pupils plus a 26 place Nursery catering for 52 part time pupils.

Our school is organised in;

• eight key stage two classes covering years three to six
• four key stage one classes covering years one and two
• four foundation stage classes covering reception and nursery a.m. and p.m.

There are two mixed ability classes in each year group identified by their year number followed by either a one or a two. Throughout the school setting occurs in the areas of mathematics and language. In the early years this is class based. However from year two onwards pupils are set, for these two curriculum areas, across the year group.
