St. James the Great School is in the process of devloping email links with our partner school in Tianjiao. This is a difficult process as Tianjiao Primary School has so nmany pupils that would want to link with us. We have two classes to link they have at least 6. However we have agreed to share emails with friends so that as many children as possible can speak to each other.
A second difficulty is that the chinese children use unmonitored Hotmail accounts at school. For security reasons we prefer that closely monitored links were used therefore we will be sending and recieving emails via teacher email. Both schools involved are optimistic that this will succeed.
We have given the Tianjiao school our website address so that students and teachers can study our school and its policies as well as keeping in touch with the development of our China link section. We would like to do the same but as yet the Tianjiao school doesn't have an open website instead they use an intranet. We are hoping that copies of this site can be burnt onto disc and sent for us to study. Tianjiao students and teachers are very good English speakers. However we have little access to chinese and so it will be hard work for us to access most of this site. While I was in China many photographs were taken both by myself and my Chinese counterparts these told us a great deal about each other and will probably provide the most stimulating method of communication both now, as we get to know each other and in the future when we exchange information and ideas around the curriculum area of Festivals. This was to be our main area of information exchange leading to cultural growth and understanding in both countries.
