Animation Project

A group of years 5 and 6 children had the opportunity to work with a professional animator to produce a short animation based on the story of Krakus and the Dragon. Norbury Manor Business & Enterprise College for Girls, who had also produced an animation, came and worked with the children at our school.

The project took two intense days to complete. It involved, drawing, reading and recording the story, using the digital camera to capture each frame, teamwork with both adults and children and computer skills using a new animation programme that we now have on ten of the schools computers. The children thoroughly enjoyed themselves and were highly impressed with the finished product. We are now planning to follow this up with one of our past pupils who works as a professional animator.

A DVD containing our animation along with that of Norbury Manor Business & Enterprise College for Girls and one by Norbury Manor Primary School can still be purchased from the school for £2.50, with all the proceeds coming back to the school to support future projects as agreed with our school council.
